While MM-5 is optimized for routine industrial inspection, MM-5A introduces a trinocular optical system with an 8:2 light split, enabling seamless simultaneous visual observation and digital imaging. The 45° inclined, 360° rotatable trinocular head improves operator comfort during prolonged analysis compared to the fixed viewing configuration of MM-5.
MM-5A features long working distance plan metallurgical objectives, including Semi-APO options, delivering higher contrast, flatter fields, and improved edge resolution over the standard objectives used in MM-5. The triple-layer heavy-duty working stage with interchangeable center apertures allows stable examination of diverse sample geometries, exceeding the handling flexibility of the MM-5 stage.
Precision is further enhanced through a low-position coaxial coarse and fine focusing system with 0.002 mm fine focus resolution, providing finer control than the standard MM-5 focus assembly. Köhler reflected illumination with field and aperture diaphragms ensures uniform, research-grade illumination for critical surface evaluation.
