Cornell Open-Faced Cabinets for 6 or 12 Drawers
The open-faced cabinets offer the same high-quality materials as fully assembled cabinets, but without doors or an exterior finish. This design reduces material costs and production time, providing significant savings. The cabinets are shipped unassembled, allowing them to be sent via couriers at the half of the usual shipping cost. Assembly is simple, requiring only a screwdriver and hammer.
The cabinet sides, top, bottom, and center supports are made of 3/4" melamine-coated particle board with a smooth, white finish that needs no additional treatment. The drawer runners are durable extruded aluminum L line supporters, the same as in standard cabinets, while plastic, non-marring guides on the bottom protect both floors and the cabinets.
These cabinets are an affordable option for individual collectors or institutional collections. They can be combined to form "blocks" of cabinets. For instance, five cabinets placed side by side, with another five on top, can house 120 Cornell drawers. The cost of storing 120 drawers in this setup is less than half that of standard 12-drawer cabinets.
These open-faced cabinets can also be placed back to back, bolted together, and put on rollers to create a compact mobile system. Collectors can purchase single units as needed and dedicate an entire wall to displaying their collection with these sleek and functional cabinets.
