The VG-5 Medical Microscope is a higher-precision progression from the VG-3, designed for detailed laboratory and medical study. In addition to the focusable Abbe condenser introduced in the VG-3, the VG-5 adds a low-drive X-Y graduated mechanical stage (140×120 mm) for accurate slide positioning and scanning, replacing the basic fixed stage used in the earlier student models.
It also extends the magnification capability with a 100× oil immersion achromatic objective, enabling clear observation of fine cellular details required in pathology and clinical work. The separate coarse and fine focusing system with graduated scale provides better control and repeatability compared to the simpler focusing of the VG-3.
Retaining the straight monocular viewing tube and mirror illumination for dependable, power-free operation, the VG-5 offers a significant step up in precision, magnification range, and specimen control, making it suitable for medical colleges and advanced laboratory applications beyond routine student use.
