It is commercially available as an anhydrous gas in a pressurized containers or as a solution in water. Monoethanolamine is used as feedstock in the production of detergents, emulsifiers, polishes, pharmaceuticals, corrosion inhibitors, and chemical intermediates. MEA is used primarily for buffering or preparation of emulsions. MEA can be used as pH regulator in cosmetics.
